Waikato/Bay of Plenty Region Update

It was great to be back in Hamilton for Summer Camp in January at a brand new venue, Narrows Park Christian Camp.  The week was a fun filled ‘Carnival’ of activities including a Speedway experience by Red and his team of volunteers, themed team building activities run by Team Up Events, a trip to Hamilton Zoo, Roller Derby with the Hellmilton RollerGhouls, and a pool party, jelly fight and 4-way slip’n’slide.  A highlight is always the camp fire and requisite toasted marshmallows followed by camp stories and songs.

The carnival came to town on our last night for a themed evening attended by lion tamers, acrobats, princesses and many other wonderful circus magical characters, and all too soon another Summer Camp was over.

We couldn’t run our camp without our incredible volunteer staff who plan and run the camp, taking time off their day jobs to ensure the camp runs smoothly.  Thank you to our two photographers and videographer who racked up 1000s of photos and hours of footage so we can give each Camper a log book and DVD as a memento of their time at Camp.

Planning for Winter Camp and Summer Camp 2018 are already underway.  We look forward to catching up with campers and families at Reunion on Sunday 7th May, and volunteers both new and old at our Training Weekend 20/21 May.

Check out dates on our website and mark your calendars!

A huge thanks to our many supporters, volunteers, and committee members who give their time and effort to make each camp happen and run as smoothly as possible. Thank you also to the Freemasons for coming in to serve meals and clean the camp daily.

And finally a huge thank you to all our families who allow us to spend an awesome week with their amazing children. It’s an experience like no other to spend a week at camp, and it’s a privilege to have that trust.
