It takes a village to raise a child, and it takes a community to raise funds. Here we celebrate the top fundraisers by category – and also acknowledge the many, many more who helped make the first Camp 4 Camp Quality CAMPaign such a success.

Top Region - Wellington/Central Districts

Total raised: $73,880

From Palmerston North and New Plymouth in the West, to Napier in the East and down to Wellington, these guys were committed to taking on the challenge to win the Top Region Fundraising Trophy, and they did it with the drive and determination of many of their Committee members, Companions and community organisations such as Lions Clubs NZ and Freemasons of the Central Division. Congratulations!

 

Top Business - Nick Beard, Cutlers Real Estate

Region: South

Total raised: $4,028

Real Estate Agent Nick Beard called on his former Otago Cricket team mates to shave their heads at the top of Dunedin’s most famous street. Calling themselves Bald on Baldwin, Jimmy Neesham, Mark Craig, Hamish Rutherford, Brad Wilson and Christi Viljoen were bold and went bald.  It’s great to have Nick on-board as a new Companion this year.

 

Top Camp Quality Volunteer - Beth Anders, Karori Lions

Region: Wellington/Central Districts

Total raised: $4,294

A valued Camp Quality staffer for 11 years and Lions Club member of more than 20 years, Beth, in conjunction with fellow Lions, is a regular face of street collections in malls and shopping centres in her area, with her cheery personality and rattling bucket.  Heartfelt thanks, Beth, for your ongoing commitment to Camp Quality.

 

Top Community Organisation - Freemasons of the Central Division Hutt–Wairarapa District 21

Region: Wellington/Central Districts

Total raised:  $9,120

Freemasons District 21 (Hutt-Wairarapa), member of the Freemasons of the Central Division Camp 4 Camp Quality Team, fended off a great challenge from Camp Quality Auckland/Northland Region Community Group, Public Fitness & Wellbeing Trust to take out the Top Community Fundraising Trophy.  Freemasons is a longstanding and generous supporter of Camp Quality, so we’re thrilled to congratulate them on their achievement.

 

Top Individual Fundraiser & Top Member of the Public - Pete Gulliver

Region: Wellington/Central Districts

Total raised: $5,507

Pete Gulliver, father of Wellington/Central Districts Committee member, Justin, has spent the last 3 years growing his hair so he could shave it for a good cause and ensure it was long enough to be made into a wig for an adult going through treatment.  His shave is planned for early December.  Good luck Pete and thanks for your tremendous effort!

 

Top School - St Joseph’s School, Queenstown

Region:  South

Total raised: $1,440

Camp Quality Companion, Emma Heslin, together with the awesome Year 7 and 8 students at St Joseph's camped outside, at the school, and also held a pyjama day. What legends you all are!

 

Top Group - Freemasons of the Central Division

Region: Wellington/Central Districts

Total raised: $43,685

Long-time supporters of Camp Quality, Freemasons of the Central Division, comprising five (5) Districts in the Central North Island combined their efforts, matched by a donation from the Freemasons Charity, to take out the Top Group Award,   Thank you for your ongoing support and commitment to Camp Quality.
