Camp Quality NZ Summer Camps 2019: Oh what a week!

The highlight of every year is our summer camps, which took place in five locations across the country. Hundreds of campers, companions, nurses, and other volunteers took part in some amazing activities and had heaps of fun – check out the highlights on our website.

The Auckland/Northland summer camp kicked off with the Family Fun Day before getting into a very full week. Bountiful fun was had by all who attended with highlights including hanging out with kiwi model Jess Quinn, the alien invasion, a thrilling trip to Rainbow’s End and a hysterical and impressive performance from Le Cirque de JP. Our black tie dinner was a fabulous ‘formal’ occasion and we even made the news when pole vault super star Eliza McCartney stopped by to serve blueberries and pancakes for campers’ breakfast!

“Out of this World” was the theme of the week and a totally “out of this world” time was had by campers and companions alike at the Christchurch summer camp. Some of the best bits were giving the Canterbury Kings cricket team a makeover, a flight in a helicopter with GCH aviation, and a dinner at the Commodore Hotel, fit for a king or queen. Campers got dressed up for the party night and disco, and foamy for the speedy water slide to top off an outstanding week that left us all smiling for days afterwards.

We may have started with a little rain but it soon cleared for a week of fun and good times at the Queenstown summer camp this year, with happy campers all round. With plenty of exciting activities on the cards including swimming, a water fight, and a magic show, the camp was a raging success full of entertainment. Some highlights included hooning around the racecourse at Highlands Motorsport Park, hanging out with the Southern District Police, and sailing around the lake with Southern Discoveries. We wrapped up with an awesome disco thanks to Gravity Events.

A week of Kiwiana fun was had at Rotorua's Keswick Christian Camp that left campers grinning from ear to ear. Our Family Fun Day was loads of fun, with a trip to the pools and board games aplenty proving to be a great start to the week ahead. Some of our favourite activities included some wild thrills at Velocity Valley, luging, getting toasty around the bonfire and taking part in the vibrant Holi Colour Run. We finished off a week of friendship and memories with an awesome concert night to showcase our incredibly talented campers.

The giggles were non-stop all week at the Wellington camp held at New Plymouth Boys High school. With a visit to a farm in Te Kiri launching our week of stimulating activities, there were many highlights that will stay with our campers long after the summer is over. We went horse riding, got sporty with Sports Taranaki, made a huge splash at our pool party, and had all sorts of fun at Lake Ratapiko. After the disco on the last night, everyone left camp absolutely exhausted the next day, but absolutely buzzing from all the activities.
