Camp Quality was established in Australia in 1983 by an English
immigrant, Vera Entwistle. Two years later Vera helped launch
Camp Quality in New Zealand.
A Sydney doctor gave Vera the idea for the name when he told
her: “No one can do anything about the quantity of anyone’s
life, but all of us can do something about the quality”
From this Camp Quality was born and has now spread to other
countries. Today Camp Quality remains committed to making a
positive difference to children (aged 5-16 years) living with
cancer.
The first New Zealand camp was held in West Auckland in
January 1985 and attracted 22 children from throughout the
country.
Since then Camp Quality NZ has grown to provide annual
summer camps and year-round support at NO COST to help
children and their families overcome the challenges of living with
cancer.
